ZELYRA
The lioness raced through the trees of the jungle. She could see the orangutan in the trees above her. All she needed was for it to swing onto a lower branch, then she could leap up and snag it. It had been a long time since she'd had anything that was native to cold climates, so she was going to enjoy this. There! She saw her chance. The only other branch was too high, and the prey had no choice but to fall to the lower one. It swung down, and the lioness bunched her legs to jump, but just as she was leaping, the ground shook violently, and she missed, stumbling into a bush. She cursed.
In the back of her mind, Lady Zelyra knew she was dreaming. The jungle felt too unreal. It felt as if she were to think about it too hard, it would all crumble into stardust. But that tremor? That didn't feel like stardust. She fought the urge to sink back into her dream. Zel blinked her blue eyes open. She was no longer quarantined into her personal quarters, so she awoke to the wide main cave. She looked up in confusion as she watched dirt fall from the ceiling and settle on the floor. Just then, another tremor shook the cave. She leaped to her feet and shook the sleep from her mind. She looked around and saw other lions stirring in their sleep. Danger was tangible in the air, and her instincts were screaming for her to run. But from what?
As if in answer to her thoughts, a high-pitched shriek sounded from outside the cave, and Zel's feline eyes picked out the shape of Elation. The kestrel slammed to a stop just short of the lioness' face. Zel was startled, Elation was panicked. "Zelyra!" So this was already off. Elation never called Zel by anything other than her title in the presence of other, whether they were asleep or not. "Zelyra. There's a- Zelyra!" Zel was frustrated, but she was also anxious now. The bird looked like she might have a heart attack. "Well, what is it?!" Elation looked half crazed now, "It's a MUDSLIDE!" It coming down the mountain. Oh, we'll all be buried!" Zelyra was first shocked, then terrified. She had to fight her flee instinct.
Then her leadership kicked in. Most of the lions were awake from the kestrel's shrieking, but Zel roared anyway, as loud as her voice could go. It vibrated around the cavern. Once it was over, she opened her mouth to speak, "Mudslide! Everyone get out! You have to get out and run up out of the valley!" Zel rushed to the entrance and looked in horror up the mountain. The dark cloud was still far up the mountain, but it was coming fast upon their home. She ran back inside, thanking the gods her pride was still small with no elderly of very young lions. She searched frantically for Atlas. She would need his help to get these lions to safety.
OOC: Good Crossing seems to be getting the worst of the mudslide, so I will start a thread later tonight with it. I'd like for all GC members to participate, but if you can't, I won't explode.

Aster's steel gray eyes were half-closed in her effort to prevent the smoke from getting in. Still, the sting from the smoke made her eyes burn and tear up. She couldn't see anything, and her heart was racing fast. What am I doing here? she wondered. How did this happen? Her fear now was sending her into a fierce panic. She couldn't calm her breathing rate, and she had to move faster, to get out of this horrible place. All around her everything was dull and gray. She could feel sharp stones under her paws, but it was impossible to see with all the thick smoke coming up underneath her. It was as if the very ground was burning. She ran faster and faster, choking on the smoke. Her muscles were on fire, her lungs ached, begging for air, and her paws were wet with blood. Still she ran on, searching for a way out, a light to guide her. But there was nothing but the thick red smoke. Suddenly, the smoke turned a red color, and it felt wetter and wetter until she realized she was standing in a sticky red river. Blood, she thought, panicking even more. She ran harder, the liquid slowing her progress when suddenly the sharp stones under her paws were gone! The ground dropped off suddenly, and the blood poured down in a macabre waterfall. Aster had launched herself away from the red torrent, and found herself tumbling through the air, ground not even in sight...
Aster leapt to her feet, breathing heavily. Her fur was soaked with sweat, and her throat felt raw. Gulping air to sooth her starved lungs, she shook the lasting feeling of her dream, relieved that the colder air was cooling her overheated body. As the unrealistic fear of her dream faded, she realized an even bigger wariness was enveloping her. The fear was strange, yet familiar, and she couldn't quite place it. Then she remembered: earthquake. As soon as she thought it, the tremors hit. She knew well enough to get out of the den--things could only fall on her in there. When she got to open ground, she looked around to see lions swarming about trying to figure out what to do next.
Aster's silver orbs sought her leader out, and fell upon her black-spotted face. Lady Zelyra looked like she was searching for someone. Above her lady's head she saw Elation circling frantically. She guessed that Elation had warned Zelyra about the earthquake. Aster looked past Elation to see the rising cloud of darkness descending rapidly down the mountain. Mudslide, she thought. Which made sense--earthquake plus mountain equals something tumbling down. Worry from her dream was now completely gone, and her soldier training kicked in.
Step one, assess the situation, her mother's words rang in her head. She made a complete 360 and saw that the rest of the pride was out of their dens. Nobody was injured, but everyone looked at least a little confused. Zelyra stood tall and proud, clearly assuming her role as commanding officer in this situation.
Step two, report to your officer. Aster moved quickly towards her lady and gave a brief bow. "Lady Zelyra, how can I help?" she asked simply. Time was running out, so now was no time for an exchange of pleasantries. Still, she kept the bow and the title through force of habit. Likely it would fade as the day progressed and her fear for her life increased.

[/color]" he roared over the massive echoing the rocks created. With that he moved toward the back of the crowd of lions, only a few more lions needed to be evacuated, Deep Freeze, and a few others who'd just arrived. He shoved them forward with his massive paw quickly, almost rushing. The brightly colored lion sat there staring at the lions, he was determined to stay there until every last lion was out. ooc: sorry for the complete succkyness. xD [/ul][/ul][/ul]
