it was pretty cold out, the pounding rain attacking myopic like tiny wet bugs. each one rebounded against her purple and brown pelt, splashing off on to the ground below. this female was a hunter, and in addition, she was starving. each pang that raged through her stomach felt like claws ripping her from the inside out. there wasn't much that she could do, except catch of on the prime wildebeest that were hanging around there, trying to hide from the torrid downpour of liquid. there were a few trees that dotted the area, offering cover to all of the giant beasts that usually inhabited the area. one of those animals was her pride, the royal pride that was led by queen bene and king kira. she didn't believe in those silly sub-prides, the other groups that covered the island, for they were just looking for a change, an escape from everyday life by becoming somebody new.
myopic growled at the thought. she hated change, hated the thought of the word. she padded with confidence through the surrounding bushes, scouting for any signs of life that would be a signals of a delectable gazelle or wildebeest that she could enjoy. whenever the lioness was bored, she would always come out here to hunt, sometimes for game, sometimes for food. today was a mission to cease the hunger that existed inside her.
myopic looked up towards the sky, feeling the droplets splatter against her muzzle and eyelids. she breathed in deeply, trying to decide which way to travel next, which way would be the most prudent in her hunt. suddenly a stifling smell of a mammal traveled past her nostrils, and she broke into a steady trot after the scent. it was recent, probably just left under fifteen minutes ago by a large male wildebeest. just what myopic had ordered. she pushed her way through the gradually taller grasses, feeling their wet residue rub on to her already soacked pelt. myopic kept close the ground, and held her eyes parallel to the muddy surface that she hit continuously with her paws.
the wildebeest came into view as myopic straightened herself out and peeked above the grasses. she was not far from it, maybe a few yards at most. she took wide steps, silently along the ground, but she doubted it could hear her beyond the pouring rain and occasional thunder clap. as she circled behind it, the male raised its ears acutely, obviously aware that something was going awry. he started off at a gallop, but myopic was too fast for him. she landed on the wildebeest's back after a giant pounce, sending mud through the air and patching the dark pelt of the prey with it. she sunk her teeth into his throat and ended it quickly, not really wanting to cause it too much pain. this was not a game hunt, but for hunger purposes only.
the wildebeest was brought down easily by her weight, for she was one of the largest females in her pride. immediately she started to dig into the meal, rain splashing against both of their pelts the entire time. myopic savored every bite, letting every piece of meat mean something in her life. without that, there was no point to the world. this is how she had done it since she had begun to hunt, and there was not use changing her ways now.
